Austin Foodie Bits ~ Food and Wine Events for the Week of December 6
Christmas is 19 days away. I’m in denial. I think it would be better to attend many of this week’s very cool food and wine events rather than think about all of my Christmas to-dos. Won’t you join me?
In the Spotlight
Edible Austin Eat Local Week continues this week with their extensive celebration of all things wonderful about local food and drink in Austin. You can look forward to a special celebration of the movie Chocolat at Alamo Drafthouse, Drink Local Night, a Local Foods Holiday Gift Fair, an evening with Michael Pollen and more. Even if you missed the weekend kick-start to this important event, you have plenty of time to play catch up. You can buy tickets to individual events or purchase an all-inclusive VIP pass for $100 (still a great deal).
Alice Medrich, award-winning baker and author of Chewy, Gooey, Crispy, Crunch, Melt-In-Your-Mouth Cookies, will be in town to share the secrets of great cookies just in time for the holidays. Join her at the Central Market Cooking School this Saturday, December 12, and learn to make each of one kind of cookie and gather a collection of wisdom only a seasoned baker can share to your cookie adventures will be more fruitful and fun. The $95 admission fee includes a copy of her cookbook.
